1959 Montana Prison Riot Commemoration

This year is the 50th Anniversary of the 1959 Montana Prison Riot. To mark the occasion, the following events will be held.

Thursday APRIL 16

1:00 pm – Guided Tour of Prison – Old Montana Prison, 1106 Main Street, Deer Lodge

Friday APRIL 17

1:00 pm – Guided Tour of Prison – Old Montana Prison, 1106 Main Street, Deer Lodge

Saturday APRIL 18

Pen Convention Center, 925 Main Street, Deer Lodge

9:00 am – Welcome: Lyle Gillette – Introductions: John O’Donnell

9:30 am – “Setting the Stage/Two Communities” – Jim Blodgett

10:15 am – “Dark Spaces” – Baumler & Cooper (Book available HERE)

11:00 am – The 1959 Riot/”Jerry’s Riot” – Kevin Giles (Book available HERE)

12:15 pm – Lunch/The MT National Guard Film Viewing

1:30 pm – Historic Walk-through of the Prison – Gillette & Giles

2:45 pm – “Parallels in Space; 1908/1959″ – John O’Donnell

3:15 pm – Recollections – Group

6:00 pm – Reunion dinner at The Pen Convention Center – Cost to be announced
