155TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE OLD MONTANA PRISON

On July 2, 2026, the Old Montana Prison proudly celebrated its 155th anniversary, commemorating 155 years since the first prisoner entered through its gates on July 2, 1871. It was a day filled with history, fun, and community as visitors joined us in honoring this incredible milestone.

Our staff embraced the spirit of the celebration by dressing in striped prison uniforms and interacting with guests in character, creating a memorable and immersive experience throughout the day. Visitors also enjoyed two special guided tours that highlighted the rich history and stories of the Old Montana Prison.

To thank our guests for being part of this historic occasion, our first visitor of the day and our 155th visitor each received a special gift basket filled with merchandise from the Old Prison Gift Shop.
