Celebrating 250 Years of Independence At The Old Montana Prison

This year, we invite our community to be part of something truly special as we celebrate 250 years of American independence with a one-of-a-kind event at the Old Montana Prison Complex.

Set against the historic backdrop of one of Montana's most iconic landmarks, the All-American Family Cookout Celebration will bring together history, community, and patriotic pride for an unforgettable day.

Guests can look forward to a FREE community cookout and fireworks display, making this event a perfect opportunity for families, friends, and visitors to gather and celebrate together.

The Prison Yard will transform into a lively scene filled with the sights, sounds, and flavors of a classic American summer.

Adding to the excitement, live music will be provided by Cornbread Wallace, bringing energy and a true Montana spirit to the celebration. From toe-tapping tunes to laid-back summer vibes, the music will set the tone for a day of fun and connection.

Thanks to the generous support of Mackenzie River Pizza, Grille & Pub in Butte, MT, guests will enjoy a delicious main course as part of the cookout. Alongside great food, there will be games and activities for all ages--ensuring there's something for everyone.

There's something uniquely powerful about celebrating America's independence within the walls of the Old Montana Prison--a place rich with stories of resilience, transformation, and history. As fireworks light up the sky above the prison, we'll be reminded not only of our nation's past but also of the strength and unity of our community today.

The celebration kicks off at 6:00 p.m., when the gates open and we welcome everyone to settle in for an evening of fun, food, and community. We encourage guests to bring along lawn chairs or blankets to get comfortable, and sunscreen to stay protected during the evening sun, and if you'd like, your favorite side dish to share as part of the community cookout. It's all about coming together, relaxing, and enjoying a great night with friends, family, and neighbors.
